I watched Artificial Intelligence (2001) for the first time since seeing the theatrical release. The journey of an android child who risks his life through thick and thin to become a real boy and obtain his mother’s love. I thought about the Uncanny Valley theory,
“when human replicas look and act almost, but not perfectly, like actual human beings, it causes a response of revulsion among human observers. The “valley” in question is a dip in a proposed graph of the positivity of human reaction as a function of a robot’s human likeness.”
Gigolo Joe (Jude Law) melted me back then and successfully melted again.
